Hi, I’m Suraj Ningombam, the founder of Swell & Shine.
I started Swell & Shine on December 1 after experiencing a problem myself.
During COVID, I had to attend my friend’s wedding and needed a Pheijom suit. At that time, I couldn’t go out shopping easily, and there were hardly any websites selling Pheijom suits online. I somehow managed to buy one, but after washing it, the printed colour completely faded.
That experience made me realise that there was a need for better-quality Pheijom suits, and that’s when I started thinking about making one myself.
So I started learning, sourcing different fabrics, trying different printing methods and testing everything myself. It took me more than 6–7 months of trying and testing before I finally launched Swell & Shine.
Today, I make Men’s Traditional Pheijom Suits here in Assam and ship them to Meitei people across the world.
For me, quality has always been more important than making more profit. I focus on high-quality fabric, long-lasting prints and perfect stitching, and I also provide a 1 Year Print Guarantee because I want my customers to buy without worrying about the print fading.
If the print fades within the guarantee period, we provide a 100% new product exchange.
My goal is to build Swell & Shine into India’s premium Pheijom Suit brand by 2028.
I may choose to make less profit, but I don't want to compromise on the fabric, print or overall quality of the product.
